Brawling Brothers Boardgaming Podcast

The Brawling Brothers Boardgaming Podcast is a biweekly podcast that focuses on board games, card games and RPGs. The original Brawlers (Josh and Brandon) are 2 friends who like very different types of games. The show focuses on these differing preferences and (hopeless) attempts to sway each other's opinion. Each show includes light, friendly banter, a game review (in print), a combative segment called "Brawling and Boardgaming", a check in on BGG's "Hotness" and a brief discussion of a topic that has importance to us... Well, one of us, at least. While the "Brawling and Boardgaming" can get a bit heated at times, Josh and Brandon play games for the same reason: SOCIAL INTERACTION. The Brawlers love of meeting new people, playing games with old friends and interact with gamers all around the world is the simple reason that Brawling Brothers was founded. Join us as we attempt to spread our influence throughout the gaming community, encouraging people to form gaming groups, organize events, and evaluate just how great (OR NOT) those old games that Josh loves really are. Let's hope we can agree to disagree before a major fight breaks out!

This episode brought to you by and Meeple Realty - A fun filled episode, RIDDLED with mistakes (Gotta catch em all!) - Our summer travels are quickly winding down and we attempt to shake the rust off.  As a welcome back gift, Josh plays a joke on Brandon and he needs new ear drums! Josh makes sure to check in on all embarrassing iTunes reviews, including one from j5ldh.  Can anyone tell us what a Luscious Delectable Helicopter is?!  Our 4th of July celebrations are proceeded by Brandon's 95th birthday!  We check in on our BGG Guild and - What's this?!? - the heathens (brawlers?) are calling for a  Solo Josh episode??? Then is crusty and musty in a SUPREME way, and begins with a supreme theft!  We delicately explore the phallic tendencies of Mare Nostrum & consider writing a jingle for our friends at Asmodee.  In questions from a hat we discuss our favorite gaming accessories, compare video games to board games, name our favorite 6 player games and proudly proclaim our favorite podcasts (board gaming and otherwise).  As with every 10th episode, we wrap up with a bleep filled outtake roll from the previous 10 shows - If you don't laugh, we owe you a churro!

This episode brought to you by and Meeple Realty - Josh unveils his revolutionary idea for "3d ENRICHING EXPERIENCES" followed by his confessions about having no clue how to use modern technology.  We bust into some excellent discussion involving karaoke, followed closely by a great cheap champagne story (what a pairing!).  Brandon falls victim to his love for Churros and falls off the diet bandwagon for a day.  HeavyCon, a small convention experience by Heavy Cardboard, dominates majority of our discussion.  Brandon talks about his experience with heavy games at the convention, including Arkwright by Capstone Games, Kanban from Stronghold Games and Trickerion (published by APE Games). The show wraps up with a lengthy Jon Gilmour interview.  Listen in and hear about the Dead of Winter development process, get an inside scoop on the upcoming expansion; Dead of Winter: Long Night and hear about his newest project Heroes and Tricks (currently on Kickstarter)

This episode brought to you by and Meeple Realty – Another leather couch session begins in War Room Studio B as the guys fill everyone in on their International Tabletop Day experience (better late than never!) and congratulate the party hosts on welcoming a new gamer into the world!  Brandon and Josh meet a (nother) local podcaster and decide that Albuqueque has become a hotbed for podcast creation. Josh covers the old (but not so crusty) Warrior Knights during his “THEN” segment, both guys get a chance to play a grail game and talk about it during “NOW” and discuss some smoking hot Kickstarter projects in “TOMORROW”.  The investigation continues into the strange transmission recieved during Episode 26 from “Mister M” – A few new details have been discovered and are shared with the listeners, though it’s clear that help will be needed to figure out what is going on.  Broom Service has monopolized the gaming nights of the Brawling Brothers for the last few weeks and they tell you what they think in their Broom Service review.  The guys finish up the episode by taking Questions from a Hat – Intern Lexi makes a special extended appearance and the Brawling Brothers officially envision the unofficial BrawlCon.

In our 20th episode we celebrate LIFE!  Somehow we've managed not to kill each other. Yet.  Josh and his group takes a trip to Santa Fe, only to get cut off at the bar.  Their evening is capped off with Carne Adovada and a few more drinks - this time they are on fire!  Brandon is much less exciting, thanks to a recent diet.  He does have Skinny Pop popcorn though!  One of our listeners gets a ding, and Mobley calls back to show off his review skills.  We are sick of our format and make some much needed changes to ensure the show has our free-flowing feel!  We unveil a new segment called Past - Present - Future (Working Title), and desperately need you to help us name it!  Our feature game of the episode is Blood Rage from Cool Mini or Not, and we both have STRONG opinions on it.  We finish up with a fun section where we take 20 questions in 20 minutes - question #20 is a special treat, so stay tuned til the very end!

Brandon is sick, hardware is on the fritz and we are rust as hell - but the show MUST GO ON!  We highlight our Christmas break plays and acquisitions.  We get another call from our aspiring Scottish intern - Mobley.  We have concerns about Mobley, primarily his power hungry nature... We have to figure out a way to knock him down a notch or 3!  Our new years resolution is to do more giveaways on the show, and we've partnered with our buddies at Floodgate Games to bring an awesome giveaway to our listeners - that starts now!   We visit with Paul Grogan from to learn more about teaching games and we pick his brain on Codenames, Vlaada Chvatil.  We follow this discussion up with our Codenames review and wrap up the show handing out our awards for "Game of the Year".
