Brawling Brothers Boardgaming Podcast

The Brawling Brothers Boardgaming Podcast is a biweekly podcast that focuses on board games, card games and RPGs. The original Brawlers (Josh and Brandon) are 2 friends who like very different types of games. The show focuses on these differing preferences and (hopeless) attempts to sway each other's opinion. Each show includes light, friendly banter, a game review (in print), a combative segment called "Brawling and Boardgaming", a check in on BGG's "Hotness" and a brief discussion of a topic that has importance to us... Well, one of us, at least. While the "Brawling and Boardgaming" can get a bit heated at times, Josh and Brandon play games for the same reason: SOCIAL INTERACTION. The Brawlers love of meeting new people, playing games with old friends and interact with gamers all around the world is the simple reason that Brawling Brothers was founded. Join us as we attempt to spread our influence throughout the gaming community, encouraging people to form gaming groups, organize events, and evaluate just how great (OR NOT) those old games that Josh loves really are. Let's hope we can agree to disagree before a major fight breaks out!

Suffering from a candy related hangover, we discuss the awesome reception to our Halloween episode, give thanks where thanks is due and discuss why parents "check" childrens candy.      We run through a lengthy "What we played" - which includes some crappy early 80's game that Josh acquired, dexterity games and how they don't necessarily mix well with alcohol,  and the wonders that are Mysterium!  We dedicate a good block of time to review the cooperative game, The Grizzled from Cool Mini Or Not.  And we wrap up the show with an intimate and always entertaining segment of answering listener submitted Questions - including Grail Games, questions about our name, and Games we own that we (still) haven't played! Enjoy the craziness, folks! #brosbeforechurros Trouble seeing the player or just want to access the show in another way?? Our trip to BGG.con is coming up and we are JUST NOW planning the trip (no script folks, no script!).  We contemplate hijacking a balloon to get to Essen - Next year? Next year!  In the meantime we check in our on favorite Essen releases. We don't typically do Kickstarter previews, but World's Fair 1893 deserved our attention (and yours too!).  Lastly we discuss RPG's and their place in the Boardgaming world.  Are Legacy Boardgames the new RPG? We close out the show with some excellent "flavor" that Josh created years ago for his Descent campaign.

Is anyone sick of hearing about Brandon’s love for Pandemic yet? Well if you are, then this episode ain’t for you.. Even though it’s just a short portion of time, we just can’t get away from mentioning Pandemic!

In this episode, we chat for a bit about beef, Mr. Ed and the crash that almost lost Episode 3. We get to flex our improve skills with some impromptu Desert Island themed fun. Brandon just finds enough time to rub it in Josh’s face that Origins is going to be AWESOME! After the jealousy is too much for Josh to handle, the guys have a chat with some old guy that shuffles his way in to War Room weekly. We then discuss our take on Stockpile from Nauvoo Games. And we close this all off with a discussion (pretty friendly) about how to learn and teach board game rules.

How have we not killed each other yet?!

We are spending more and more time together and we’re getting more comfortable with one another. As we become more comfortable, we also seem to find additional ways to annoy each other. Regardless, we still show a good amount of respect for our differences as we sit down to discuss our lovely dinner date; our Kickstarter addictions; we get to Dead of Winter featuring Jonathan Gilmour; and we close with a heated discussion regarding Alpha Gamers and how to combat the issue… (if you feel that it’s an issue in your gaming session)
